I will be evaluating my media product. I will be going through certain areas that will explain and include the following:·
What ways my media product use, develop and challenges forms and conventions of real media products·
-How my media product represents particular social groups
-What different kinds of media institutions might distribute my product and the reason of this
-Who my media product is aimed at· How we attracted our audience
-What kind of things I have learned about technologies from the process of constructing my product
-And finally what progress I believe me and my group have made from our preliminary task to this full product.
We have used a special and good choice of costume, music and also the original idea of our storyline to represent a particular type of social group such as stereotypical youths, the scene we have created adds good use of tension which is what good thriller films need to have, the male protagonist wears a stereotypical teenage wear including a track suit, to make up his character this is what he needed to wear along with his type of walk and his posture. by this , is can reach out to the audiences and grab their attention because the target audience can imagine it as themselves if they was in that position, and makes them familiar with the surroundings of the film. This will attract teenagers and young youths to watch the film. My team thought hard on how to display the male protagonist character. We used good use of camera angles to do this. We decided to only displaying the protagonist characters face once but very fast and briefly so the audience only just catches the face. This creates tension but at the same time lets the audience make their own opinion on the character, asking them if he is secretive person? Outgoing person, quite, tough, all of these are type of stereotypical teenagers. A package is briefly shown in the clip; this creates tension because you don’t see it for long and you don’t see it anywhere else. It makes u think of questions, why has he got it? Why is he hiding it? Why don't we see it again? This keeps the audience motivated to watch it. We called it KARMA which means what goes around comes around. Also in the clip a phone is displayed with a text saying the phrase "what goes around comes around" which links nicely to our title and gives a good strong effect to thriller films which we are trying to replicate.
Our type of film is a similar plot to Kidulthood but with a bit more tension and different storyline. However they symbolize roughly the same social group. This will make the production company for Kidult hood good for us to distribute our movie too because the people that watched Kidulthood or any film about young stereotypical teenagers are the same target audience that we want to attract to watch this movie. It will focus on the right target audience. It will replicate the same kind of things what is seen in the world today of teenagers and youths. There will be no point sending it to a media institution that produces films such as scary movie or horror based films because the target audiences are completely different.
We clarified our movie as a fifteen. Me and my group done a lot of research to come to this conclusion. We looked at all the other age certificates and the criteria that are in it and we saw that what our film contained would be suitable for a fifteen allowing a larger amount of our target audience to watch the film. Yet another reason we chose this is because that it is a crime movie and will involve crime and some violence but it will not be used to the extreme and will not show the use of too much sex, drugs, nudity or use of bad language. The type of research we done included online surveys and many class discussions to see if the target audience will be suitable.another reason why fifteen will be suitable it because it will come with a larger audience because people can watch it where as if it was a 18 this will cut out and limit younger viewers watching which it is aimed at.
Whilst making our thriller movie it showed that it would not be a walk in the park. It was a challenge and made us all work to the best of our ability. I and my group put many hours into the clip to make it of what me believe it to be a quality piece of work. We never encountered as many problems as we did in our preliminary task however we did encounter some. This was only during the editing process. This was because we had to use windows movie maker which did not have a large source of transitions that looked professional. It was challenging when we needed to place the movie over the movie clips this is because we had to make it have good timing and play just right. Our biggest problem that affected me and the group was when we first put the clip on the computer. Due to using movie maker we could not a permanent file until it was finished, and also we could not use any computer we had to use the exact same one we placed the clip on because it will not open up on other computers, so we could only complete it when this computer was free and available to us.
I feel me and my group have made a tremendous improve from our preliminary task. We used good and better use of sounds, music, and importantly transitions and camera angles. By doing all of this and improving it I feel that this film has a better use of flow then the preliminary task. However by using windows movie maker we never got carried away with using a lot of flashy transition. I think in a way that it worked to our advantage because we used good simple transitions that needed to be displayed to our film, it has not gone wild and carried away and it gives that crime affect that we aimed for. By researching and doing a lot more theory I feel that we have understood this more which made us come up with good ideas. Overall I am happy with the progressed made and the final product
